Not that long ago, you had to play a balancing game between screen size and picture quality. Now, you can get great 4K HDR picture, with great screen size, without breaking the bank. Here's our list of Best TVs under $1000.
Our first TV is the Sony 55" X800E, and although it sits in the middle of Sony's lineup, it is anything but a mediocre TV. The Sony X800E offers excellent black levels, vibrant and accurate color, and high brightness. The TV runs on the Android platform, and therefore supports Google's Cast feature for Chromecast. It also works with Amazon's Alexa, which means you can control it with your voice as well.
Next we have the Samsung 49" MU 8000, it sits towards the top of Samsung's standard 4K UHD lineup, supports HDR, and has a gorgeous design to go with its excellent picture quality. You'll get some extreme brightness with this TV, which makes it perform well in rooms where you have a lot of ambient light flowing in. Black levels are impressive, color is solid, and the TV runs on Samsung's Tizen operating system, which we think is one of the best Smart TV OS available. Samsung's TV recognizes the HDMI components you connect to them and automatically sets up the remote to control them. The 49" version comes with the same picture quality features and design elements you find in the 65" version.
The LG 55" UJ7700 does one thing better than any other TV on our list, and that's off-angle viewing. That's because it has a IPS LCD panel; when you move off from the side, the picture won't wash out as much than other TVs you may be looking at buying. That alone might be enough reason to go with this TV, but the LG 55" UJ7700 offers a lot more; with bright, vibrant picture, solid HDR performance (with support of Dolby Vision as well), and WebOS, which we find extremely easy to use. And with its LG Magic Remote, you can control this remote like a Wii remote, and simply point at the screen to control a cursor with ease. You can get the 55" version of this TV for under $900.
Of all the TVs on our list, the TCL 55" P607 is probably the most surprising. Don't be fooled with it's inexpensive price tag of just under $600, the 55" P607 offers premium processing, and 72 zones of locally dim LED backlight to create a remarkably uniform picture. This isn't the most intensely bright TV on our list, but will be more than sufficient for most, and is one of the most user friendly TVs, running on Roku's OS.
