Another low end PC! This time we're taking a look at the Acer Switch 10, a $300 laptop PC that has a detachable touchscreen tablet screen. The screen can be flipped around and used like a convertible but it first has to be detached from the device and reconnected in the opposite position.
It's powered by the same Intel Atom processor that most of the low end PC's and tablets we've looked at over the last couple of weeks. Application and gaming performance is about the same as those devices. The Switch 10 has 2 gigabytes of RAM and 32 gigabytes of on board storage.
Build quality is decent, I like how the screen magnetically clamps down on the keyboard. It is a little back heavy and will flop backwards if the screen is angled to far to the back of the device.
The IPS display is nice, but not as nice as what I've seen on the Asus devices. The keyboard is a little too small for me but it is larger than the Asus T100's very tiny keyboard.
The bottom line? It's a nice tablet / laptop PC. It performs the same as other computers that cost $100 or more less, but those devices don't have detachable keyboards or have less storage and available RAM.
