WD just sent us their newest My Cloud Device called the Mirror. The My Cloud Mirror is a dual drive Network Attached Storage device that is very, very similar to their My Cloud EX2.
Like the EX2 it comes with two Red drives installed, has a 1.2 ghz processor, and 512 megabytes of RAM. Performance is also the same, and it's really only missing two major features and two minor ones.
The Mirror lacks iSCSI support (which really isn't all that necessary in a product in this class) and Microsoft Active Directory features that might be used in an enterprise environment.
It does have all of the other Ex2 features, including the ability to load in apps like Wordpress and Joomla, cloud backups, and more.
Drive performance is good and slightly better than the single drive unit. Reads were about 40-50 megabytes faster than the My Cloud, with writes in 'mirrored' mode a little slower than the single drive unit. Switching the RAID mode to RAID 0 and striping the disks resulted in speeds about double the single drive unit.
Who's this for? Someone looking for greater data redundancy and performance over the single drive unit.
