One of our delegates, @SteffiLW, tweeted upon seeing Tara Shears' talk that Tara had made "physics interesting for the first time since I was 12". Well put! We first met Tara when she spoke @ThinkingDigital in 2009. She's been described as the "female Brian Cox" in that she's another brilliant communicator of physics. Here she tells us about the significance of the Higgs particle and the latest progress by the Large Hadron Collider in providing evidence of its existence.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
