Review: Boscam HD video camera

This is a review of the Boscam 1080p HD recording video camera for RC model use.
This sample was provided for review by
A generic 8GB Class 10 microSD card was used for the video recording test.
IMPORTANT: I stuffed up in the editing so all the Boscam footage you see in this review was post-edit (ie: it had been tweaked). To see the true raw footage, watch this video:
Pro's:
- it's low priced (compared to other HD cameras such as the GoPro)
- It is compact, the only trailing lead required is the power lead
- it supports 720p in 30/60fps and 1080p in 30fps
- comes with a lens cap
- will run from a 3S lipo or other 12V source without the need for a regulator
- comes with a good array of cables making it "plug and play" for most applications
- very low emissions on the UHF and 2.4GHz band making it more suitable for long-range FPV use
Con's:
- no mounting hardware provided
- image quality not as good as a GoPro (but it's 1/3 the price)
- unlike the Horyzon HD it has no RC control over video start/stop or still-picture functions (UPDATE: I've been told it *can* perform these functions but it's not documented)
- use in a model that has a 2 or 4-6S battery will require a special UBEC or separate battery because it requires a 12V source
- heavier than the Horyzon HD.
All in all, the video performance of this camera is very similar to the Horyzon HD. The choice between those two cameras will depend on your own specific needs.
