Sony Alpha a6000 Review

Lisa Gade reviews the Sony Alpha a6000 interchangeable lens mirrorless digital camera. The a6000 and a5000 are members of the Alpha camera line and they replace the NEX models. The a6000 is the higher end model that sits roughly where the NEX-6 did and the body sells for $649 or $799 for the body plus the 16-50mm compact kit lens with motorized zoom. The a6000 has a 24MP APS-C CMOS sensor, which is the same sensor size found in significantly larger DSLRs, and it has the same 1.5x crop factor vs. full frame 35mm as do DSLRs. It has Sony's new BIONZ X image processor, also found in the RX-10, Alpha a7 and a77 Mk. II and it's markedly better in terms of speed and image rendering. The Sony a6000 is equally capable of shooting high quality 1080p video with continuous autofocus and it has a clean HDMI out port. The 12 ounce camera is extremely compact and it has the usual PASM and full auto modes, EV, manual focus support and much more. It targets photo enthusiasts looking for a compact but capable camera. The a6000 has a flash, 3" tilting LCD and an electronic viewfinder.
