I get many emails from folks asking why they are having slow performance on their WD My Cloud or other network attached storage device (NAS).
The reason is that many people are trying to push large volumes of data across wireless connections or are connecting over 100 megabit ethernet. The only way to get the full performance out of these devices is to use a full gigabit connection.
In this video I demonstrate the speed differences between gigabit ethernet, 100 megabit ethernet, and wireless. I also explain the difference between internal network speeds and what might be provided by an ISP like Comcast or AT&T.
