Inside the Tokoroa "Control Tower"

People have expressed concerns that, having seen an RC plane crash into the "Tokoroa control tower", valuable property may have been placed at risk.
Well for those who want a close-up look at this derelict tower, here's the video for you.
This tower is more of a death-trap for kids than a "valuable asset" and indeed, the SWDC has tried to give it away - but nobody seems to want it. Even the gokart club next door thought about it and finally said "no thanks".
Originally a forestry look-out tower, the building was moved onto the airfield to act as a set for a very forgettable movie filmed back in the 1980s. In fact, it's so forgettable I've not been able to find anyone who can remember its name.
Since that time, the building has been left to rot and rust. Now, although the supporting structure remains very strong (and impervious to foam and balsa assaults), the wooden components are rapidly rotting away -- for lack of a coat of paint or preservative in more than a quarter of a century.
We have specifically warned the SWDC that this thing could well result in serious injury or death to the children who can from time to time be seen scaling its heights. We (the SWMAC) tell children not to climb the structure when we see them attempting to do so.
The SWDC seem unconcerned at the risk it poses to the community and have ignored our suggestions to implement some method for stopping people from climbing it.
