An alternative to using 6S lipos

If you have a 6S lipo and one of the cells fail you could end up throwing away 5 perfectly good cells when you dump the pack.
An option to using expensive 6S lipo packs is to simply wire two 3S packs in series like I show in this video.
The benefit here is that if you are unlucky enough to have a cell fail then you need only throw half the battery away and buying another 3S pack to replace the dud is a lot cheaper than buying a whole new 6S pack.
What's more, if you decide you don't want to use the batteries as a 6S pack then you can simply split them again and you've got the two 3S packs you started with.
The Turnigy balance-port adapter shown in this video can be used for balance charging however, if you're charging at high currents (more than 5A) then you're better off using the main connector rather than the XT60 provided on the Turnigy device because this will avoid passing too much current through the balance leads themselves.
