When I decided to fly my AXN RC plane in massive category 5 tropical cyclone Pam I expected a lot of wind. While there was some wind, it came nowhere close to the strength everyone forecasted in this part of the country -- leaving me (and I'm sure you) somewhat disappointed.
Never the less, I still flew my AXN at the peak of the winds (which were described as "gale force") but to be honest, I've flown in much worse and people regularly fly slope-soaring gliders in stronger winds than this. It was pretty damned turbulent for a foamie though -- and my fixed wing flying is a bit rusty -- too much miniquad flying!
Don't worry though... if we get stronger winds, I'll be there, with my trusty AXN.
