Lisa Gade reviews the Lenovo ThinkPad W550s 15” mobile workstation with NVIDIA Quadro K620M graphics. Read our full written review here:
This is a relatively thin and light workstation laptop with relatively long battery life. Lenovo accomplishes this by using Intel Broadwell 5th generation ULV 15 watt Ultrabook Core i7 CPUs rather than the higher powered quad core i7 used in traditional mobile workstations. The dual core CPU and Quadro K620M 2GB DDR3 dedicated graphics have enough horsepower for SolidWorks, AutoCAD and video production. The W550s is available with 1080p or 3K displays (touch and non-touch available for the 3K display). Our $2,400 unit runs on the Core i7-5600U with 16 gigs of RAM, switchable NVIDIA graphics, a 512 gig SSD, 3K touch matte display and dual band WiFi 802.11ac with Bluetooth 4.0. The starting price is $1,150 with the 1080p display, 500 gig HDD and Core i7-5500U. It features Lenovo Bridge battery system with a built-in battery and a removable rear battery. For this review we tested it with 32 gigs of RAM using Intelligent Memory’s 16 gig SODIMMs available here: .
