BlackBerry Z10 - After The Buzz, Episode 17
When Thorsten Heins unveiled the BlackBerry Z10 at its announcement event in January, he said it marked the start of a new beginning for the company. Indeed, so high were the stakes for the downtrodden former superstar that it changed its name that same day. The stodgy old RIM gave way to the iconic brand it borrowed from its most-famous product line, and that line gained a brand-new all-touch smartphone in the Z10, a modern device for a new, keyboard-less world.
Since then, the Z10 has taken quite a roller-coaster ride; though it debuted to generally favorable reviews, it soon gained a reputation for high return rates - a reputation that BlackBerry and others shouted down in short order. And though its splashy release was soon eclipsed by other, more-visible flagship devices, a majority of the early adopters we polled earlier this month seemed quite happy with their new BlackBerrys. And the company recently announced, with well-deserved pride, that the app count in its BlackBerry World storefront has already surpassed 120,000 titles.
Now, as the QWERTY-packing companion to the Z10, the BlackBerry Q10, starts rolling out to carriers around the world, it's time to take another look at the full-screen flagship that kicked off the age of BlackBerry 10.
