When it comes to flying RC planes and multirotors, Tokoroa is the place and the Forest Fliers are the group. Every week, more and more people turn up with their RC models and join in the fun. Thirteen carloads of fliers isn't a bad turn-out for a small rural town.
This week, Gordon's home-built hotrod quad is destroyed in an unfortunate encounter with the planet. Caleb makes everyone else's flying look decidedly amateurish, Neil has his first go with a mini-quadcopter, there's a Bixler 3 on the field, plenty of Blackouts are in the air, the ZMR250 gets a workout but I think it has a cranky motor, Roddy does some camera-work and MC'ing of the flying, and everyone had a jolly good time again, as usual.
The gorgeous weather didn't hurt either and it appears as if (touch-wood) spring has come early this year in the Southern Hemisphere.
What's more, It's starting to look as if Tokoroa has become the mini-quadcopter capital of New Zealand!
A reminder that if you'd like to come fly with the Forest Fliers and share in the fun and laughter you hear in these vids then, no matter where you come from, you should just drop us a line.
Remember there are only three rules to flying with us:
- have fun
- don't be an idiot
- no cocoa
-- not to be confused with clubs run by the grumpy old men of MFNZ where placing "too much emphasis on having fun" is strictly forbidden :-)
