What a disappointment the BlackView Hero 2 action camera from GearBest turned out to be. I was hoping it would be a competitor to the Xiaomi Yi, SJCam SJ4000 or even the GoPro itself but sadly, no.
Poor packing and a less than stellar build-quality seem to have both contributed to the fact that the review unit (provide for review purposes by GearBest) arrived in a faulty condition.
Aside from the issues described in the video, there were other problems with this camera, including an inability to switch between video and still-image modes when following the instructions in the manual and a software design fault that appears to make it impossible to set the time/date.
All in all, this is a fail -- both for the Blackout Hero2 and also for GearBest's shipping.
Hopefully GearBest will review their packing processes in light of this video.
