I worked out so hard at the gym, why am I not sore?!
There is a huge misconception that if you are not sore after working out that you did not work hard enough, or you had a pointless workout. Well I hope this video clears that up a little bit.
D.O.M.S. or delayed onset muscle soreness occurs usually 24-72 hours post strength training, usually from being unaccustomed to the eccentric, or negative portion of the lift being executed. Lifting weights causes microtrauma to the connective tissue and muscles. You may feel muscular tenderness and stiffness post exercise and this is do again to placing greater stressors on your muscles that they are unaccustomed or not used to.
It is important to recognize the difference between soreness and injury as well!
**Main Point**
Muscle Soreness is NOT what determines whether or not you had an effective workout!!!
