After Shawn Frayne developed a form of volumetric printing that allowed him to show a picture of his sister at a coffee shop, they decided to try the next step, adding LEDs to a cube. The resulting device is the L3D Cube, aimed initially at hackers and coders, but the founders envision 3D LED displays offering up holographic imagery in all sorts of applications from healthcare to data visualization.
