Drone Registration (rant)

Sadly, the Department Of Transport (DOT) in the USA have either disingenuously or naively suggested that compulsory drone registration is going to solve the problem of these craft being used unsafely and inappropriately by recreational users.
To use a Kiwi phrase _"they're dreaming!"_
In this rant I voice my opinions on the subject and highlight the reasons why compulsory registration will not be the silver bullet they're hoping it will be.
AND... Before anyone starts moaning - I'm not suggesting that *ALL* DJI Phantom owners are a problem because we know that the troubles we read about are caused only by the actions of only a very small minority but sadly, *they* are the face of the problem as portrayed by the media.
If you're a Phantom owner I know that YOU are probably not part of the problem -- but you should still consider becoming a part of the solution by educating the ignorant as to what's right, what's safe, what's legal and what's sensible when it comes to using their drones.
It's our hobby and if we don't act (by educating and informing the problem element) then we have only ourselves to blame if the compulsory registration turns into a convenient list for collecting up all the models out there and confiscating them once they're banned.
