Professor, designer, and entrepreneur Dr. Charlie Miller shares a narrative of design shifts spanning two decades of exploration and evolution. Charlie’s path from a freelance designer to a professor at the University of Minnesota to a cofounder of Vidku illustrates a series of design shifts including play, research, communication, and culture.
Dr. Charles Miller is the Cofounder and Chief Design Officer of Vidku, Executive Director of the Institute for Design Innovation at the University of Minnesota (UMN), and an Associate Professor of Learning Technologies in the College of Education and Human Development at UMN. Miller has received awards from organizations such as the Webbys, Yahoo!, AIGA, USA Today, The Washington Post, American Scientist, IBM, Adobe, SITE, and AECT for his work on projects ranging from environmental expeditions and political campaigns to information visualization platforms and mobile communication apps.
