This seafood boil can get to be quite pricey but it is such a great way to enjoy family and friends. It's so easy because it's a one pot meal. We had a ball and everybody ate and laughed until they hurt. This buttery, spicy, rich seafood and broth is so good. It will make you feel as if you're sitting by the ocean eating this dish right off the boat or fresh from the water. Excellent with crusty bread or just by itself.
Quantities will vary depending on how many people you will be serving. Be very generous and add or remove ingredients according to what you like. Use all seasonings to taste keeping in mind your personal dietary needs. No matter if you live as far south as Texas or Georgia or as far North as New York or you might be in California on the West Coast or anywhere in-between or around the world ….. you’re gonna love this!
Lobster Shrimp and Crab Boil
Lobster
Crab Legs
Shrimp
Sausage
Dried Shrimp (so small they are like flakes, Asian Market)
Fresh Sliced Lemons
Potatoes (red potatoes do nicely but any potato will work)
Fresh Corn on Cob (frozen will work if fresh unavailable)
Zatarain’s Shrimp and Crab Boil (1 or 2 tbsp)
Zatarain’s Shrimp Crawfish and Crab Boil Packent
Old Bay Seasoning
Paprika
Garlic (both fresh and prepared or powder)
Salt
Popcorn Butter (do not leave out or substitute)
Start by adding potatoes to seasoned boiling water, then add sausage, next corn, add lobster and crab legs, cook for 5 minutes, then add shrimp and cook for about 3 or 4 minutes. More seafood can always be added to boiling water/broth. Broth can be held refrigerated for a few days.
Appox. total boil time: 30 minutes
Potatoes = Go in 1st and cook for 10 to 12 minutes (of course this depends on size). Use fork or butter knife to determine. You don't want them soft done but firm done at first because they will get more heat throughout the end of total cooking time.
Sausage = 10 or15 minutes after start (potatoes) whether cooked in oven first or not.
Corn = goes in with sausage
Lobster - Crab = go in 10 minutes after sausage / corn
Shrimp = 10 minutes after lobster / crab (and turn fire off)
To make it even easier:
In boiling water place potatoes, corn, sausage, all spices
15 or 20 minutes later add lobster and crab legs
10 minutes later add shrimp (make sure all seafood is under broth and turn fire off). Shrimp will cook in the bubbling hot broth.
