KAMAL KAKDI CHOPSTICKS
Ingredients
100 grams lotus stems (kamal kakdi), grated
½ cup fresh coriander leaves
2 green chillies
1 inch ginger
8-10 curry leaves
2 white bread slices
2 teaspoons refined flour
1 medium potato, peeled and grated
1 medium onion, grated
1 teaspoon dried mango powder
1 teaspoon garam masala powder
Salt to taste
Oil for deep-frying and greasing
Method
1. Blend together the coriander leaves, green chillies, ginger and curry leaves with little water into a fine paste.
2. Break bread into small pieces and place in a bowl. Add refined flour and little water and mix well into a dough.
3. Add potato, lotus stem, onion, ground paste, dried mango powder, garam masala powder and salt and mix well.
4. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai.
5. Grease your palms with some oil, divide the prepared mixture into equal portions and wrap them around half portion of the candy sticks.
6. Deep-fry prepared chopsticks in hot oil till golden and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper.
7. Serve hot with tomato ketchup.
