This hangout celebrates 40 Years of Voyager!
Voyager 1 and 2 Spacecraft are twin spacecraft launched into the Solar System 40 years ago to fly by Jupiter, Saturn and beyond. The amazing discoveries from their travels include 23 moons around the giant gas planets as well as volcanoes on Io, Jupiters ring system, the twists and turns of the rings around Saturn, and images of other moons such as Titan and Triton. Jet Propulsion Lap scientists and engineers designed and built the satellites. They, along with the various scientists, including those at University of Colorado, who used the onboard instruments are delighted with the long productive history of the Voyager mission.
Join Tony Darnell and Carol Christian during Afternoon Astronomy Coffee on September 14, 2017 at 3PM Eastern (Daylight) Time as they discuss with Fran Bagenal and Larry Esposito (CU Boulder’s Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics, LASP), the remarkable journey of the Voyager spacecrafts.
