2017 Porsche 718 Boxster - First Drive
New for 2017, the Porsche 718 Boxster is now powered by turbocharged flat four-cylinder engines. On the Boxter, the 2 liter powerplant cranks out 300 horsepower, while the Boxster S steps it up to 2.5 liters which churns up 350 horsepower and 309 pound-feet of torque.
Thankfully the option of a six-speed manual gearbox is still available, along with Porsche’s PDK seven-speed dual clutch transmission.
Porsche’s entry level roadster may have downsized its power plant, but it’s more powerful, and just as engaging as ever.
