RATCHET AND CLANK MOVIE ANNOUNCED (Escapist News Now)
Insomniac Games announced Ratchet & Clank will become a 3D animated movie.
The movie will debut in early 2015 and is being produced by Rainmaker Entertainment and Blockade Entertainment. Original voice actors James. A Taylor, David Kaye, and Jim Ward who voice Ratchet, Clank, and Qwark will reprise their respective roles in the film.
Jericca Cleland will direct the film which is based on a script by Insomniac Senior Writer TJ Fixman who will maintain the franchise's signature humor and dialogue. Producers will also be using Insomniac's extensive library of art assets to make sure the look of the characters is consistent with the games.
Producers at Sony are hoping the film will garner interest in the 10-year-old series with those who may have never heard of the franchise. Blockade's CEO Brad Foxhaven said, "It's meant for a mass audience and not just those who know the franchise...By working closely with SCEA and Insomniac, we will remain true to the game's expansive mythology while also creating a story that will capture the imagination of those who will be new to this incredible world."
