There really is only one thing to talk about in this week's news -- Horizon and Spektrum have announced the launch of a new 2.4GHz RC protocol for their RC aircraft systems, called DSMX.
Unlike the old pick-and-stick 2-frequency system known as DSM2, DSMX is an "agile" system that moves its DSSS signal around the band, following a pseudorandom pattern across a total of 23 channels.
Good on Spektrum and Horizon for admitting that their existing DSM2 spread spectrum system is (as I have said for a long time) no longer capable of always coping with the noise found on an increasingly congested 2.4GHz band.
I will be reviewing the DSMX system as soon as I can lay my hands on one.
Or who knows -- maybe Horizon will be so confident in this new protocol that they will submit a system for an RCModelReviews fully-objective review.
