About the speakers:
Chefs Georgianna Hiliadaki and Nikos Roussos were born and raised in Athens.
Coming from different backgrounds and studies, Georgianna studied European Studies at Reading University in England and Nikos Economics at Deree College of Greece, they met in cooking school 'The Institute of Culinary Education', in Manhattan New York, where they both studied and graduated with honors in the degree of Culinary Arts.
Both Roussos and Hiliadaki ascended the culinary ladder by working at prestigious restaurants not only in Greece but all over the world, including the famous El Bulli in Spain with Ferran Adria.
In 2007, the two chefs along with partner Argyro Chiliadaki set up Funky Gourmet Company introducing in Greece the idea of private cheffing, i.e. private gourmet dining at home. Funky Gourmet Private Cheffing received great attention almost immediately and soon they transformed Funky Gourmet into a Restaurant which opened in Keramikos, in the heart of the ancient centre of Athens.
About TEDx:
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
