This is an interesting product that does indeed generate electricity. It doesn't generate all that much, but it can charge very slowly charge a phone or power a LED USB lamp.
The manufacturer claims that it can provide up to 5 watts of power for a USB device, which is essentially the same amount of power that typically comes out of a smartphone wall plug. In my test the best I could do is about half that.
The PowerPot relies on a thermoelectric generator that produces electricity based on temperature differences between water in the pot and the bottom of the generator that is receiving heat from a stove or campfire. As the water is heated the temperature differential decreases and less electricity is produced. If the water is supercold and the stove is very hot, it's possible that you can get to the full 5 watts, but it won't be at that level for very long.
I did find that with boiling water the device output about 2 watts of consistent power, enough to slowly charge a phone at a rate of about half to a third of what its wall plug can produce.
NOTE: The lamp and the power meter are additional accessories and not included with this listing.
