In August 2016 astronomers made a huge announcement: they had discovered a potentially habitable exoplanet right in our cosmic backyard. The world is called Proxima B, and it's located within Alpha Centauri, the closest star system to Earth. The discover is intriguing because well... it's an exoplanet we might actually be able to GO TO within our lifetimes! Engineers have hypothesized a spacecraft that could reach Proxima B by as soon as 2060. Sure that's a long way off, but it beats the thousands or even millions of years it would take to travel to any other potentially habitable planet! What do we currently know about Proxima B and what would it take to get there? This week we find out!
