In some ways, League of Legends is a safe game. In terms of champions, you kind of have to pick what everybody else picks and just play game better than they do.
Sure there are counter-picks and the odd fringe meta lock-in, but straying from the pack and going for that truly off-meta pick can be risky, to say the least.
