Our 100 days journey in Africa started in Stone Town, Zanzibar. At first sight, this city looks like a labyrinth of alleyways, spice markets and unruly traffic, an exotic place that can be seen in a chase sequence of a Bond movie. The architecture we initially found was a mix of Arab, Indian and African influence, together with notable wooden doors decorated with brass studs - a style that originated as a defence against charging elephants.
