For under $1000 the laptop can very nicely run modern games like Grand Theft Auto V. Some of the settings need to be reduced but for the most part image quality should exceed that of a next generation gaming console at 60fps.
My only real gripe with this laptop is the trackpad. It requires a very deep push to register a click and feels a bit clumsy.
It's clear we are about to see a huge reduction in price on high performing gaming PC's. It also looks like Dell has a comparably configured PC for only $799.
ERRATA: The QHD display I mentioned is actually a 4k UHD display. Also the computer defaulted to the Intel graphics for the Minecraft test.
