This was mostly an academic exercise but it was a fun comparison to do. Surprisingly the Macbook performs almost identically to the Dell XPS 15 in most benchmarks and in a real world test with GTA V (identical settings on both machines).
The bottom line is that those shopping for a Windows laptop should stick to a brand running Windows. The good news for Mac owners is that they can boot up a Windows 10 installation on their Mac and get performance equal to some of the best laptops on the market.
As far as gaming is concerned, GTA V runs identically between the two machines. My Mac has the higher end GPU on board too, so the base line GPU on the MacBook Pro 15 will not perform as well. Frame rates were nearly identical on GTA V and very close to each other on a number of 3DMark benchmark tests I ran.
