Selecta was born in 2017: after a series of unexpected meetings, both producing on Misrishi Records for years, and finally falling for eachothers’ music. Today, the fusion of their styles is what makes the duo interesting and different. If François (Walass), music aficionado, sound technician and computer music instructor, is known for his sunny and delightful future beat tracks, and his unique groovy house the other half of the duo, Simon (Laster), is known for his unrivalled hip hop music mixed with guitar solos. Two complementary worlds that they do not wait to merge and experiment.
After months of hardwork, it starts to get real. They took the time to learn how to work together but mostly how to make great music out of their different influences. First loves of Laster for french touch and his talent for guitar are meeting house and funk influences of Walass. This mix give birth to an instrumental project that they’re naturally want to focus on live performance. With the first track All Night Long, we’re immediately mesmerized by the bright soul voice of Anna Miku. We move, dance et want more and more. Then comes Midnight Club, a beautiful demonstration of their alliance with a deep bassline, some furious drops, and old school synth and voices. In the last extract, Laster performs a great guitar solo over hovering bassline and breaks. In short, a unique piece, experimental, nuanced, enriches by the touch of both artists and which promises some awesome live shows.
