Buy the scanner on Amazon - (affiliate link). This is the first in a series of videos I'll be doing on photo archiving, with an emphasis on bringing in old film negatives. This video is sponsored by LaserSoft Imaging. Find their SilverFast software here:
VIDEO INDEX:
00:02 - Overview and why scanning film negatives vs. prints is best
02:00 - Loading in negatives onto the scanner
05:43 - Choosing file type (I recommend TIFF)
07:52 - Understanding PPI , print size, and resolution
10:54 - Preview scanning and batch scanning negatives
12:57 - Dealing with scratches with iSRD and SRDx
21:30 - Conclusion and final thoughts
This first video shows how you can efficiently scan negatives using a flatbed scanner and SilverFast software. It can be as easy as loading them up and just a few mouse clicks. But SilverFast is also very good at finding and removing dust and scratches that might be on your negatives. Removing them at the time of scan means you'll have less to do later.
Also important to note that the concepts covered here also apply universally to scanning in general. My goal with sponsored videos like this one is to add value beyond just a sales pitch and I am very interested in what you have to say!
