The Real Reason Thor Doesn't See Jane Foster Anymore

What’s the real reason Thor doesn’t see Jane Foster anymore? Yeah, there was that throwaway line about them breaking up in Thor: Ragnarok, but there has to be more to it than that, right? Although, there is some truth in that little line: Thor is a god, and Jane Foster isn’t - she’s just a measly human. There’s an incompatibility factor between them. With Thor off on other planets and Jane stuck in New Mexico they did have the longest of long distance relationships. But there might be something else that caused Thor and Jane Foster to go their separate ways - movie plots.
Thor doesn’t really need Jane Foster - at least not anymore. Thor: Ragnarok introduced a new female character - Valkyrie - and given her super powers and Jane Foster not having super powers (at least yet - in the comics Jane Foster becomes Thor) there isn’t a real need for a damsel in distress. Thor’s movie arch has taken him in a different direction from his 2011 big screen debut. There’s not really a place for Jane Foster in the MCU right now. Or is there?
The big question is: Will the Russo Brothers bring back Jane Foster in Avengers 4? Given Foster’s science background, there might be a place for her in the Endgame after all. So even though Thor and Jane broke up, it doesn’t necessarily mean that she’s really gone - it’s just a matter of if Natalie Portman can find time to squeeze in a cameo and help save the universe.
