Here's my recipe for a basic tomato sauce -- one of the "mother sauces", and a perfect spaghetti sauce. There's as many different ways to modify a tomato sauce as there are cooks out there, but you can use this basic recipe as a starting point. It's great on its own with pasta (spaghetti), or you can use it for pizza, lasagna, or just a sauce for chicken or fish. Add some ground meat for bolognese sauce.
