Joe Ashworth has marked himself out as one to watch over the past year with a string of underground cuts on Waze & Odyssey’s Street Tracks label, notably his collaboration with Citizen, “Situation”. He brings his textured, melodic sound to Anjunadeep for the first time with debut release “Rebound / Whatever Weather”.
On “Rebound” he showcases a nuanced approach, deftly blending strong techno influences with a delicate ear for melody. The twinkling, sometimes discordant keys that rise and fall throughout demonstrate an enviable maturity in Joe’s productions.
“Whatever Weather” is one for the dancefloor, revolving around an infectious bassline groove that rolls beneath crisp drums and more gorgeous flowing piano.
